Adoption

Look for an attorney who focuses his or her practice on your type of legal question, or someone who lists this as a type of law they regularly practice.
Your local bar association may have a referral program.

I have always said that the adoption process is one of the most gratifying aspects of practicing family law, and assisting a family come together through an adoption is a very rewarding personal experience. However, getting to the day when an adoption is finalized takes a lot of family preparation and involves the thorough timely preparation and filing of essential legal pleadings and documents. When embarking on such an emotional and impactful family journey, it is important to make sure you have an attorney who is experienced in handling adoptions representing your family. Attorney John James Manore, III is skilled and experienced in providing legal counsel for adoptions of all kinds. We walk our clients through their adoptions with compassion and competence striving to make the entire process as smooth and efficient as possible. There are a number of different types of adoptions, and Attorney Manore is skilled in handling each one. The most common type of adoption is stepparent adoption–when one parent's spouse seeks to adopt his or her child. If the other biological parent is deceased, a stepparent adoption can be fairly straightforward and quick. If the other biological parent is alive, however, a stepparent adoption will require the termination of the biological parents' parental rights. Depending on the circumstances, this can be a challenging process, but we have the skill and experience to advocate strongly for your interests and the interests of your child. Other types of adoptions we can assist you with may include:

Related Adoptions – Adoptions involving other family members (i.e. grandparents, siblings, uncles and aunts) are also a common type of adoption.

Agency Adoptions – Adoptions that are arranged through the Department of Family Services or, a private adoption agency.

Independent Adoptions – Adoptions involving direct placement of a baby by the birth family.

Ideally, your adoption will be processed smoothly without any problems, but that is not always the case. A biological parent or another family member may contest the adoption or other problems could arise. If something does threaten to disrupt your adoption, having an experienced adoption attorney on your side can make a significant difference. Manore Divorce & Family Law can complete and submit all paperwork, prepare you for the type of questions you may be asked in an home study interview, guide you through adoption finalization, and help establish communication with the child's birth family, if that is something you choose.
